Set up Authorize.net

Connect Authorize.net to your Bolt merchant account.

Connect Authorize.net to Bolt so Bolt can authorize and capture payments through your Authorize.net account.

Step 1: Obtain Authorize.net keys

Follow Authorize.net's instructions to get your API Login ID and Transaction Key.

Step 2: Add keys and edit payment settings

  1. Log into the Bolt Merchant Dashboard.
  2. Go to Settings > Payments.
  3. Click Set Up Authorize.net.
  4. Enter API Login ID and Transaction Key.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Edit payment settings, then click Complete Setup.

Expected result: Authorize.net appears as your active processor under Settings > Payments.

Step 3: Configure Authorize.net risk settings

For saved cards, Bolt does not transmit CVV match data.

  1. Go to your Authorize.net account.
  2. Use Authorize.net's CVV settings to allow transactions without CVV data.
  3. If you use Advanced Fraud Detection Suite (AFDS), set Enhanced CVV Filtering codes that indicate missing CVV to Allow.

With Fraud Protection

Bolt Checkout does not require a billing address, so AVS mismatch rules can decline legitimate shoppers. Use Authorize.net's AVS settings to allow shipping and billing address mismatches.

Without Fraud Protection

Tell your fraud provider that payments through this processor will not include CVV match information.

Step 4: Set up chargeback notifications

Configure Authorize.net communication preferences for digital chargeback notifications.

Chargeback handling

  • With Fraud Protection: Authorize.net supports manual dispute submissions.
  • Without Fraud Protection: Follow Authorize.net's chargebacks guidance.
