Set up Bolt on Salesforce Commerce Cloud
Install Bolt cartridges on Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) storefronts.
Integrate Bolt into a Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) storefront using Bolt-provided cartridges. Bolt uses the Open Commerce API (OCAPI) to render the Bolt checkout button on the cart, minicart, and product pages.
Platform support
This guide is for Salesforce Commerce Cloud. Other platforms and custom web apps have their own quickstarts.
Commerce Platforms
Choose an integration
| Integration | Use it when |
|---|---|
| SFRA V2 (Checkout) | You run a standard SFRA storefront and want Bolt's hosted checkout to replace the native SFRA checkout. |
| Composable Storefront | You run a headless PWA Kit storefront. Extends the SFRA V2 plugin with a React BoltCheckout component. |
| Embeddable Checkout | You keep your own checkout UX and want Bolt to add account SSO, one-click login, and payment methods. |
Prerequisites
- A working SFCC storefront with a base SFRA cartridge running
- Bolt API credentials (API Key, Signing Secret, Publishable Key) from the Merchant Dashboard
- OCAPI access, with Account Manager access granted to
dev@boltapp.com - System Object Extension enabled to store payment and basket data
- Embeddable Checkout also requires SFRA v6.0+ and your Bolt Merchant Division ID
Install (SFRA V2)
- Upload the cartridge: clone
bolt-demandware-managed, add adw.json, and upload to your SFCC digital server. - Activate the cartridge: add
int_bolt_sfra:int_bolt_corein front of the base cartridge path for each site. - Authorize Bolt: grant Account Manager access and share your API client credentials with Bolt.
- Configure OCAPI settings: paste the provided
OCAPIshop.jsonandOCAPIdata.json, replacingclient_id, then disable OCAPI 404 response caching of dynamic content. - Import metadata: rename
RefArchto your site ID, editlibrary.xml, then importBolt-meta-import. - Set site preferences: configure the Bolt Payment Setting attributes (API key, signing secret, publishable key, environment).
- Add the checkout button: wire the Bolt button into
cart.ismlviaboltModalConfigure.js.
Expected result: the Bolt checkout button renders on the cart and sandbox checkout opens.
Production checklist
- Switch to production API keys, credentials, and environment site preference
- OCAPI methods allowed through your CDN
- Live processor credentials configured in the Bolt dashboard
Troubleshooting
- Shoppers cannot check out: monitor Administration > Operations > Service Status >
bolt.http. - OCAPI requests break: confirm OCAPI 404 Response Caching of Dynamic Content is disabled.
- Email bypasses Bolt: a shopper already logged into SFCC may auto-fill their email. Use
Bolt-accountExiststo check for a Bolt account.
