Install the WooCommerce Bolt Checkout plugin to add Bolt Checkout to your WordPress store.

Requires WooCommerce 3.7 or above and access to your WordPress admin dashboard.

Platform support

This guide is for WooCommerce. Other platforms and custom web apps have their own quickstarts.

Prerequisites

  • Bolt merchant account (Production and Sandbox dashboard credentials)
  • WordPress admin access and WooCommerce 3.7+
  • Bolt-provided IPs approved for endpoint access
  • For Fraud-Only: API Key, Publishable Key (Payment Only), and Signing Secret

Install the plugin

  1. In WP Admin > Plugins > Add New, search for bolt checkout, then install and activate the plugin.
  2. Open the plugin Settings, enable the Bolt Gateway, and toggle Bolt Sandbox Mode on for testing.

Expected result: Bolt appears as a payment gateway in your WooCommerce settings.

Configure webhooks

In your Merchant Dashboard, go to Administration > API > Merchant Callbacks and set the endpoints, then approve the Bolt IPs:

  • Webhook URL: https://[store_url]/wp-json/bolt/response
  • Shipping URL: https://[store_url]/wp-json/bolt/shipping
  • Tax URL: https://[store_url]/wp-json/bolt/tax
  • Create Order URL: https://[store_url]/wp-json/bolt/create-order

Expected result: Bolt can reach your store endpoints for order, shipping, and tax callbacks.

Enable Single Sign-On (optional)

  1. Ask your Bolt account manager to enable SSO Commerce for your store.
  2. Add the [bc_login] shortcode to your My Account page.

Production checklist

  • Turn off Bolt Sandbox Mode
  • Switch to production API keys and dashboard
  • Bolt IPs approved on production
  • If you use the Bolt Extension plugin, update it alongside the core plugin

Troubleshooting

  • Endpoints unreachable: confirm the Bolt IPs are approved.
  • Fraud-Only: enable only Native Checkout Page and Pay for Order, and clear any Additional CSS that could hide the original checkout button.
  • Voids in the Bolt dashboard do not auto-update the WooCommerce order status; update the order manually.
