Checkout Everywhere Quickstart
Sell a product from a checkout link or a scannable QR code.
- Bolt handles the checkout page and payment collection.
- Your store owns the product catalog, order records, and fulfillment.
Your integration steps
This flow: BigCommerce test store and Bolt Payments sandbox.
Before you begin
Have these ready before the estimated integration time begins.
| Requirement | What you need |
|---|---|
| Test store | BigCommerce administrator access and one available physical product with a single variant. |
| Sandbox account | A Bolt merchant account with Checkout Everywhere and Bolt Payments enabled for sandbox testing. Account setup is separate from this estimate. |
Platform support
The checkout link, QR code, and order verification steps work the same for any store. The store connection steps use BigCommerce; other platforms are linked below, and a store without a supported platform uses the Custom API setup.
1. Connect store
- In your BigCommerce test store, open Settings > Store-level API accounts > Create API Account. Select V2/V3 API Token and name it Bolt sandbox.
- Give it Carts: modify, Orders: modify, and Products: read-only access, then save. Copy the Access Token and the store hash from the API path. Keep the token private.
- Open Bolt sandbox Integrations, select BigCommerce, and enter that store hash and access token.
- Select Connect BigCommerce and wait for the product catalog to import.
The store hash is the value after /stores/ in BigCommerce's API path. See BigCommerce API accounts for account permissions.
Validate connection
Confirm the catalog count increases and your test product is available. Check that you connected the test store, not your live store. If the catalog stays empty, correct the connection before creating a link.
2. Configure checkout
- Open sandbox Payments. Select Bolt Payments and configure Immediate Capture for the product's currency.
- Open Business Information. Save the shopper support email and phone number under Support Contact Information.
- Open Checkout settings, add your store logo, and publish the change.
- In BigCommerce, confirm your product is in stock and can ship to your test address. Record its price, currency, and expected shipping/tax amounts.
Validate settings
Reopen Payments and confirm Immediate Capture is saved. Confirm the support details and logo belong to the test store. Do not continue if Bolt Payments or the product currency is unavailable for your division.
3. Create link
- Open Checkout Everywhere and select Create Campaign.
- Name it Sandbox quickstart and select Create campaign.
- Inside that campaign, select Create Links. Select the campaign and your intended channel.
- Choose Direct to checkout, search for the test product, and select its variant. Leave promotional codes and optional tracking fields empty for this first test.
- Select Create Link and copy the generated URL from its table row.
Validate link
Open the copied link in a new tab. Confirm the product, variant, quantity, price, currency, branding, and support details. Keep the generated URL unchanged and private while testing.
4. Create QR
- Return to the campaign and open your link's row.
- Under Share your link, select Create beside the QR code icon.
- Select Download QR code to save the PNG.
- Scan it with a phone camera and open the destination.
Validate QR
The scan must open the same product and variant as the copied link. Try the QR code at its intended display size; confirm it is readable without zooming. Keep this checkout open for the next step.
5. Verify order
- In the checkout opened from the QR code, enter your test shopper's details and supported shipping address.
- Check the shipping, tax, currency, and final total against the store's settings.
- Use the Bolt Payments approved test card:
4111 1111 1111 1111, expiration03/30, CVV737. Submit one payment and save the confirmation details. - Open sandbox Transactions. Find the purchase and confirm its completed payment, amount, currency, and order number.
- Open Orders in BigCommerce. Find the matching order and compare the product, variant, quantity, shopper, and total.
Validate purchase
You are done when the link and QR code reach the correct checkout, the payment completes, and the matching order exists in BigCommerce. A generated link or checkout confirmation alone is not enough. If payment exists but the store order is missing, investigate that transaction before trying another purchase.
Test before sharing
Run the Checkout Everywhere test plan. To disable a test link, open its row, select Deactivate Link, and confirm; test both the copied URL and QR code afterward.
Before a real campaign, configure your production store and Bolt Payments account, generate production links/QR codes, and complete production readiness. Sandbox links do not establish live payment or fulfillment readiness.
