Connect Braintree to Bolt so Bolt can authorize and capture payments through your Braintree account.

## Step 1: Allowlist Bolt and merchant IPs [#step-1-allowlist-bolt-and-merchant-ips]

Use [Braintree's allowlist documentation](https://articles.braintreepayments.com/risk-and-security/allowlisting#enabling-ip-and-hostname-restrictions) to allow:

* `13.57.173.93`
* `18.236.33.230`
* `34.209.104.177`
* `52.36.152.150`
* `12.2.150.168/29`
* `12.249.26.128/30`
* `50.18.19.8`

Also add your office IP addresses so payment processing succeeds from your network.

## Step 2: Link Braintree to Bolt [#step-2-link-braintree-to-bolt]

1. Log into the [Bolt Merchant Dashboard](https://merchant.boltapp.com).
2. Go to **Settings** > **Payments**.
3. Click **Add Braintree**.
4. Click **Link Braintree**.
5. Enter your credentials in the OAuth modal.
6. Edit payment settings, then click **Complete Setup**.

**Expected result:** Braintree appears as your active processor under **Settings** > **Payments**.

## Step 3: Configure Braintree webhook [#step-3-configure-braintree-webhook]

Webhooks keep Bolt and Braintree in sync for disputes and disbursements.

1. Log into the [Braintree Production Console](https://www.braintreegateway.com/login) or [Sandbox Console](https://sandbox.braintreegateway.com/login).
2. Go to **Settings** > **API** > **Webhooks** > **Create new webhook**.
3. From the Bolt Merchant Dashboard:
   * **Destination URL:** **Settings** > **Payments** > **Manage Braintree** (copy the Bolt webhook URL)
   * **Public ID:** **Developers** > **Public ID** (replace `<public-id>` in the URL)
4. Subscribe to **Disputes** (Lost, Opened, Won) and **Disbursement**.
5. Save, then test the webhook until you see a success message.

## Step 4: Define risk settings [#step-4-define-risk-settings]

For saved cards, Bolt does not transmit CVV match data.

1. Go to the [Braintree Control Panel](https://www.braintreegateway.com/login).
2. Use Braintree's [AVS and CVV settings](https://developer.paypal.com/braintree/articles/guides/fraud-tools/basic/avs-cvv-rules#enabling-avs-and-cvv-rules) to:
   * Allow transactions without CVV data
   * Allow shipping and billing address mismatches

If you do not use Bolt Fraud Protection, tell your fraud provider that payments through this processor will not include CVV match information.

## Step 5: Set up chargeback notifications [#step-5-set-up-chargeback-notifications]

Configure Braintree communication preferences for digital chargeback notifications.

## Chargeback handling [#chargeback-handling]

* **With Fraud Protection:** Set up a user in Braintree so Bolt's chargebacks team can access dispute information.
* **Without Fraud Protection:** Follow [Braintree's chargebacks process](https://developer.paypal.com/braintree/articles/risk-and-security/chargebacks-retrievals/overview).
